This is DEFINITELY a Square Hoorah!
So It's Not A Square, But It's a Swatch Here's the swatch I completed tonight - it's the first thing I knitted from start (casting on) to finish (binding off) and while it's riddled with flaws, I'm quite proud of it because *I* knitted it. You can see the detail of the stitches here - these stitches were done while partly watching a LOTR documentary in semi-darkness and they're pretty nice looking stitches, if I say so myself. I wish I could knit as well in the light! :) My favorite part of knitting so far has been binding off - which is the finished end of the piece. You can see here that it's fairly smooth, consistent and rounded. I think I like binding so much because I know that I am finishing a piece! I'm going to try knitting another swatch, but this time I'm aiming to have it more square shaped :).
I might use white yarn for it instead of pink (c'mon, were you really surprised that my first ball of yarn was pink??). Someday, I will be ready to knit a scarf (I'm thinking white and pink striped).
